You can;
Our core studio/office hours are 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and someone is generally in during these times. We are, however, sometimes out and about visiting customers or suppliers, running workshops or collecting equipment, so please get in touch first if you’d like to pay us a visit.
The minimum number of prints we will do for each design is 10. So 10 paper prints, 10 garment prints, 10 fabric panels. However, as a great deal of time is taken in the processing and set up of your artwork and screens, we charge the same for 10 prints as we do for 20, as the time difference between the two size jobs is minimal. We don’t really have a maximum order limit, although we may not be able to offer our rapid turnaround option for orders over 2000 items if the studio is particularly busy.
We don’t tend to offer a one-off sample print, on the whole the price we would need to charge to cover the time and materials would be more than customers are willing to pay. If you would like to see the quality of our work first hand, you can order a sample t-shirt from our website or get in touch via email or telephone for a free paper or home wares fabric print sample. If you are local or are passing by, you are welcome to visit the studio to see a range of our printing-please just contact us to arrange a time first.
Yes, you can, as long as the design is exactly the same size and colour/s. If your design is going on baby wear and adults clothes, just bear in mind that the design must fit comfortably onto the smallest garment, avoiding seams, cuffs, buttons, poppers, pockets etc.
Different colours are fine, as long as we can still use the same type of ink so if we are using our Super Soft standard ink, the ink colour will need to be significantly darker than the fabric colour, ie, dark navy blue ink on white, yellow and light blue tees. If you would also like a dark grey tee, the print will not be a bold and punchy. In that case it would be better to either change the type of ink for the print run to our Super Soft Formaldehyde Free Discharge ink, which suits light ink colours on compatible dark garments.
Our standard turnaround is 10-12 working days from receipt of print ready artwork and full payment. We also offer a rapid turnaround option of 6-9 working days, and also 3-5 working days if necessary, although these will generally incur an extra charge.
The best way to pay is by bank transfer, the details for which will be at the foot of your invoice. You can also pay by Paypal, although that will incur a small fee. We will be accepting cheques until 2017, although turnaround time will commence once the cheque has cleared.
Yes, we do. Our Carbon Neutral courier, along with its partners, offer a fast worldwide delivery service. Please get in touch with us for a quote.
You can;Yes, we do. We like finding ways to print on new materials, so please get in touch if you have something you’re interested in.
We currently print on the following;
home wares, upholstery fabric, cushion covers, wallets, purses, wash bags, make-up bags, cardboard, cork, wood, metal, concrete, CDs, vinyl records, button badges, yoga mats, and many many more.
As a general rule, if it can be held in a fixed position and can absorb water (is porous) we can most likely print it. We can often print items which are not porous and are water proof too but this is more material dependent.
Our standard print size for garments is up to 40cm wide by 50cm high. It’s worth checking the size of your garments, though. If you have the smaller women’s specific garments it would be wise to keep your design closer to 25-28cm wide (max size for women's garments in extra small to medium is 30cm wide). Crest prints will be printed as standard on the left hand side as worn, and can measure up to a maximum of 10cm x 10cm, although we’d recommend something closer to 8cm x 8cm, as we think it looks a little better, unless you particularly want it larger. Sleeve prints on short sleeves are the same. Sleeve prints on long-sleeved garments can measure up to 48cm long by 9.5cm wide. Our current maximum print area is 70cm x 50cm, although this is only really appropriate for fabric panels, cushion covers and so on. For paper products, our standard print size is either A3 or A2. Some large prints can be accommodated so get in touch if you need a little bigger than A2.
The amount of detail we can print depends on the which one of our water based inks we are using, and what we are printing on.
If you are after paper or flatstock prints then we usually use a higher detail screen (high mesh count) which means we can achieve a lot of fine detail in your prints. Prints on dark coloured flatstock would benefit from less detail, as would prints with our metallic inks.
If you are after garment prints then this depends on the garment weight and finish along with the fabric colour. As a general rule, the lighter-weight the fabric the higher the detail we can achieve. Dark fabrics printed with our Super Soft Formaldehyde Free Discharge inks can maintain very good detail but our Super Bold opaque inks are much thicker and limit the amount of detail we can achieve.
Super Soft Standard ink and Super Soft Formaldehyde Free Discharge inks - Keep any line work to a minimum of 1mm thick, and all areas of print at least 1x1mm.
Super Bold Opaque inks - keep linework to at least 2mm thick, and all areas of print at least 2x2mm.
We can currently print up to 6 colours in a design on our manual and auto carousels, where we print your textiles. The print bed, where we print your paper prints can, technically, take any number of colours. The higher the number of colours, the more ink we will be depositing on the paper, though, so a heavier weight of paper would be recommended.
Providing vector based artwork will produce the best print, on an Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or SVG file. Some designs will not suit vector graphics so we recommend Photoshop (.psd) files.
Other file formats we can work with include JPEG, EPS, PDF and TIFF, with a minimum resolution of 300dpi.
Details of how to provide artwork and our artwork templates can be found in many formats here.
Yes, we have metallic inks for both textile and paper printing. We also have glow in the dark inks for textile and paper printing. Other special effects textiles inks we use include puff, reflective, ‘bling’ and iridescent and many more.
Yes, we can print black and white images using a black halftone print (or white halftone print on black garments). We can also achieve full colour photographic prints using what is called a 4-colour process method. Where the image is divided into 4 colours (CMYK) to achieve the photographic image through use of thousands of tiny dots or ellipses (halftone). Its similar to how an inkjet printer produces a huge range of colours from just 4 inks.
We have built our business on reputation, repeat custom and recommendations and are extremely proud of the amount of time and effort we put into each print job, our knowledge of our craft and therefore the quality of our work. We regularly perform wash tests to ensure our printing is as durable as we would expect it to be, and have invested heavily in the most efficient drying/curing available. We are confident that our printing should pretty much last the life of the garment. Our inks become a part of the garment rather than just sit on top so if you or your customers follow the garment wash instructions you will prolong the life of the print by prolonging the life of the garments.
We have had feedback from customers who have washed baby wear with our prints on multiple times at 90 degrees Centigrade, stating the prints are still as vibrant and soft as they were to start with!
Yes, we offer a few photography packages. We can take photos mid print run if you require, as well as having a full professional product photography set-up for retail-ready shots.
Yes, most of our work is for retail so, as well as photography packages, we offer neck label re-labeling, inner neck logo prints, sleeve and hem logo tags, swing tags, folding and bagging, including logo/size stickers.
We can also produce bespoke printed labels in low volumes.
No, we don’t currently offer a design service. We do offer an artwork alteration service, and would also be happy to recommend a few illustrators we have worked with in the past.
